The WWE Universe has been fantasy-booking a dream Wrestlemania match between Intercontinental Champion Gunther and Brock Lesnar, ever since the Austrian’s main roster debut back in April of 2022.

Imperium’s main man has been a force to be reckoned with, currently holding the Intercontinental Championship after defeating high-flying Ricochet on the June 10th episode of Smackdown, some 261 days ago.

Gunther has brought prestige back to the IC Title in his record-breaking reign as champion

WWE’s ‘Ring General’ is currently seen by many, both inside and out of the company, as one of the toughest superstars on the main roster, with successful championship defences over the like of; Braun Strowman, Sheamus, Shinsuke Nakamura, Rey Mysterio and Madcap Moss.

While it would seem hard to find a competitor on the roster who could go toe-to-toe with the Austrian, Gunther was in agreeance with a large portion of the WWE Universe who would love to see him take on ‘The Beast Incarnate’ Brock Lesnar, when he spoke with WWE’s The Bump:

Gunther spoke to WWEs The Bump earlier this week

“People call me the end boss in situations, but Brock might be my personal end boss.”

Fans of the product got a glimpse into what may lay ahead for the future of Gunther and Brock Lesnar, when the two stood face-to-face with one another in the middle of the ring, at last month’s Royal Rumble Premium Live Event.

Chants of “holy sh*t” could be heard echoing around San Antonio’s Alamodome, as the two big men stood eyeball-to-eyeball for over ten seconds, which could be seen as a foreshadow towards a potential Wrestlemania 39 match between the two.

Gunther interpreted the crowd’s reaction to the moment as an indication of wanting a future Brock VS Gunther matchup:

“I think the moment that we had was all that I needed out of it right now, basically as a real-life confirmation that the audience is up for that.”

“Obviously my focus right now is being the Intercontinental Champion, but going down the line I think that is something I really want to go for, being in the ring with Brock one-on-one”.

While there is a desire from both Gunther and the WWE Universe to see him take on Brock Lesnar, there are currently no internal plans for the two competitors to cross paths, with just over a month until Wrestlemania 39 takes place in Hollywood.
