A David Moyes departure looks evermore likely after his West Ham side continued their dismal form at the weekend, suffering a two-nil defeat away to London rivals Tottenham.

The defeat, in what many West Ham fans regard as the biggest game on the calendar, increased their run of twelve away league games without a win, starting after their one-nil victory away to a then-struggling Aston Villa side 176 days ago.

After spending over 100 million Pounds on attacking players in the past two transfer windows, which included Brazilian attacking midfielder Lucas Paqueta and Italy’s highly touted striker Gianluca Scamacca, it’s been a surprise to many to see the team struggling to find the back of the net.

Speaking after the defeat to the Spurs, David Moyes talked about his desire for more goals:

“It would have been good if we could have made more chances, and created more opportunities than we did today because it’s something going forward that we have to find a way of getting more chances, we didn’t look a threat from set pieces as much as we should have been as well.”

West Ham’s poor attacking output has been a season-long dilemma, failing to score a single goal in the last six away premier league matches, it’s just one of the reasons why they’ve managed to pick up the fewest away points in the competition.

By analysing almost any metric of measuring attacking outturn, it’ll be no shock to find the club where they are currently.

The London side has found themselves in the bottom third of the table in many attacking statistics this season, including; 20th in the league for headed goals, 18th for set-piece goals, 20th for goals from crosses, as well as 20th in the league for assists from dead-ball scenarios.

After picking up just fourteen wins out of their last fifty-two premier league games, West Ham fans will be wondering what else has got to go wrong for a change of management to take place.

From reaching sixth and seventh in the league and a game away from a European cup final just over a year ago, to now sitting in the relegation zone after spending the 3rd largest amount of any European club in the summer transfer window, Hammers boss David Moyes will be feeling the pressure to turn around his sides form.

If reports are to be believed, Moyes and his coaching staff will need to avoid defeat this weekend at home to fellow bottom-half team Nottingham Forrest if they want to keep their job.

With under half a season left to be played, the West Ham hierarchy, including David Sullivan and Daniel Kretinsky, have started their search for a new boss, with Rafa Benitez, Nuno Espirito Santo, Ange Postecoglou and Steven Gerrard in the running to replace the out of favour Scotsman.
